the title: Nova Acta Helvetica ...) bound in 8 volumes. All
published. Complete run of this important scientic jour-
nal of Switzerland. In contemporary bindings. Basileae
(Basel), typis & sumtibus Joh. Rudolphi Im-Hof, (and
vol. 9:) Joannis Schweighauser, 1751-87, lg. in-8vo, in all
around 2300 p., all titles in red and black and illustrated
with 82 engraved plates mostly folded, some browning
or foxing in one or two vols., generally a very crisp copy,
S.A.C. (Swiss Alpine Club of Basel) stamps and labels
on endpaper & titlepages, half leather bindings on raised
bands and with corners, some gilt decoration on spines
as well as partly hw. paper library labels, marbled paper

ever found complete,
contain contributions by
many famous, mainly
Swiss scientists: Albert de Haller, Emmanuel König, Daniel
Bernoulli, Joh. Rudolf Zwinger, J.H. Lambert, Joh. Henr. Resp-
inger, Joh. Rod. Stehelin, Joh. Georg Zimmermann, Gagnebin,
J.J. d’Apples, Laur. Theod. Gronovius, etc., etc. Originally these
series were started by famous physicians from Basle. Eversince
they developed into a kind of learned society. The articles include
writings on most remarkable scientic matters (such as, in vol.
3, a larger contribution on the thermometer and the barometer
in relation to Fahrenheit, Newton and Réaumur), many practical
observations, and many contributions to Swiss natural history
(cf. Haller). The volumes were published in 1751-55-58-60-62-

Les éditions de 1656 de Rigaud et la suivante de 1658 sont beau-
coup plus rares et plus complètes que celles de 1620 (Caillet).
Rare early treatise on chemistry devided in 2 books with the wood-
engraved printers device on the titlepage and 3 woodengravings
in the text, depicting 2 primitive furnaces and one with several
bottles especially made for chemical experiments.Text just a bit
dust-stained. An interesting list of “les operations de Chymie” and
a list of the main minerals being: plomb (Saturne), étain (Jupiter),
le fer (Mars), l’or (Sol), cuivre (Venus) and argent (Mercure
and lune). Caillet, 912; DSB 1, 571-2 (rst edition Paris 1615).

nia, tam antea sparsim edita, quam hactenus inedita. En
4 volumes. Lausannae & Genevae (Lausanne et Genève),
sumptibus Marci-Michaelis Bousquet, 1742, in-4°, 4 titles
in red and black with identical printer’s device, decorated
with numerous engraved initials and head- and tailpieces
throughout, 2 plates with engraved portraits of Johann
Bernoulli and Frederic III king of Prussia (by G.F. Schmidt
after J. Rüber), and 91 folding plates with engraved
geometr. gures, occasional slight browning, vellum
bindings with gold tooled title label, vol. 1 chipped at top
of one hinge, vol. 2 chipped at bottom of one hinge and
lower right corner of front cover, some corners bumped,
