published in 1921 with 122 plates of which 110 are handcoloured,

2 vols de text with 11 suppl. plates. All in very good condition.

Nissen mentions 122 coloured plates, this must be an error be-

cause the last 13 plates are anatomical details and are left black/

British Islands. Illustrated with 252 coloured plates.

In 4 volumes. London, Groombridge, 1864-67, in-8°,

alltogether 252 coloured plates, heraldic Ex-Libris ‘Jo-

sephi Greene’ with devise ‘Nescia Fallere Vita’, green

half-leather publisher’s binding, spine richly decorated

in gold with sh-ornaments, slight rubbing, corners a bit

bumped, gilt edges, in general a nice and decorative set.

This work is regarded as one of the fundamental contributions

to British ichthyology (Wood). Second and third edition of this

beautiful shbook, rst editions were published in 1862-65. It

shows the popularity of this book, that only 2 years after publica-

tion a second and even a third edition were printed. Complete

with the 252 nicely coloured plates.

le plus souvent réimprimé, surtout connu sous le titre ‘ Le

Voyage du Beagle’. A part les qqs. signes de bibliothèque,

exemplaire sans rousseurs et frais, dans sa reliure d’origine.

First edition of this collection. A. Haller was the rst botanist to

realize the importance of herbaria to study variation in plants and

he therefore included material from different localities, habitats

and developmental phases. Haller also grew many plants from

the Alps himself. The present study contains a reprint of six pam-

phlets by Haller, each with half-title. These pamphlets provide

extensive discussion on history of description of alpine plants,

methods for studying botany including anatomy and his own ob-

servations illustrated by ve plates. Collation: Introduction dated
